Hold The Ice Please

Ice machine preventative Maintenance is often overlooked, even though ice is technically defined as food in the context of Food Hygiene Regulations 2006

Preventive Maintenance (PM)

PM is the key to maximum running efficiency, less down time, and longer life out of an ice machine. The primary items for an ice machine

  1. Clean and sanitize the water system.

  2. Clean air filters on air-cooled models.

  3. Check external filter system and change cartridges as needed.

  4. Check inlet water valve screens.

  5. Conduct bearing and auger inspection on extruded ice makers.

  6. Conduct a visual inspection of components, controls, and wiring for oil spots, loose wires, loose fasteners, corrosion, etc.

  7. Clean the bin interior and unit exterior.

Failing to keep on top of regular maintenance can result in bacteria, limescale and in some cases a slimy like algae to build up which can contaminate the ice produced
